Matt Powers 2012 Formula D ride Part 4

GTI chose to use an Aeromotive Stealth fuel cell.  The cool thing about the Stealth system is that it is completely self contained as a single unit which greatly cleans things up.  The fuel tank, fuel filter, surge tank, pump and venting system are all in one unit.  All you have to do is hook up the pressure and return fuel lines, the wiring for the pump and the vents for the tank.  The vents even have anti roll over valves pre installed.
The silver cannister contains an Aeromotive A1000 fuel pump, this is a big sucker that can move enough fuel for 1300 hp.  The pump is mounted low in the cell with the pickup in the right place for cool running and no cavitation.  A lot of people screw themselves by not mounting their pumps correctly.  Don’t ask me how i know.  Too high of a pump location results in noise, vapor lock, overheating and premature pump failure.  The Stealth system ensures proper pump location.
The pickup has a serviceable 100 micron filter built into it.  One less thing to have to find a spot for and plumb.
You can see the A1000 pump and filter/pick up assembly here.
The tank itself has internal baffling to make certain that the pump will always have fuel to pick up even under cornering loads.  The fuel return dumps into the lower partition to the left.
Here is how the pump and pickup fit in the baffled area.
