This means that each exhaust pulse will scavange the next by way of pressure differential. These shorty headers will actually make power instead of just look cool for neighborhood bragging rights at the beer cooler. Instead, you'll be able to prove it on the dyno and the fact that your car pulls more than your buddy's who has just a regular shorty installed.
You're not getting cheaply made headers, either. With thick manifold flanges, you won't see these cracking due to excessive heat cycling. “This all new rugged BBK header design is constructed with 1-3/4” CNC Mandrel-Bent tubing and solid 3/8” laser cut exhaust flanges,” BBK reports.
Welds are finished throughout the header. Especially in the collector, where most cheaper-built headers fail. Designed to be a direct fit, BBK's Shorty Headers will need no modification to attach to your OEM Mustang's exhaust system. However, BBK does offer it's high flow after cat X-Pipe and soon to be available off-road only cat eliminator system for more performance.
BBK reports an increase in power up to 14 Horsepower, “Initial testing is showing gains of around 14 horsepower with the high flow after cat X pipe – and BBK will have an off road cat eliminator system out shortly for even more horsepower gains.”
BBK will offer these headers in Full Chrome ($349.99), Silver Ceramic Coated ($449.99), and 304 stainless steel ($499.99).
