Honestly, I didn't know they made leathers that small. Why? Well, I wasn't ever that small.

Despite the suspension woes, Edik was able to take pole position for Race 1. The front control arm was holding up for now, with a lap time of 2:06.370, it would have to do.

James Landry was no stranger to Buttonwillow, as he is a veteran of the track and his very quick lap time in an unfamiliar car shows this. His 2:07.921 was 1.551 seconds behind Edo, putting him into second place qualifying position.

Michele Abbate's engine problems equated to the slowest lap in the entire NASA field. At 2:19.335 Michele was 11.414 seconds slower than Landry and nearly 13 seconds behind Edo. It wasn't looking good for Michele.

She kept her head up, though, figuring it would have been a great run up to this point and a very close championship race. She felt good about it, but wanted more than that.

Edo and his crew were also worried. That cracked suspension arm looked OK to race on, but they still weren't sure. They would have to hope that the loads on the suspension wouldn't be enough to make the problem worse.
