The question we have, and one that all fans of TA should have… Will the existing TA top dogs come out to defend their turf, and make Brandon regret having such confidence/cockiness? The Infineon event, and the challenge that has been issued by Brandon, is one of the best, if not THE best opportunities Time Attack teams will ever have to prove the sport of TA needs to be taken seriously.
The last time a SPEED GT car came to play in RTA, Jim Sofronas, in his GMG Porsche, beat the AMS Performance EVO by 1/10th of a second on the infield road course at Auto Club Speedway. We know Mike Warfield and GST Motorsports is up to the challenge. Fontana Nissan in their 350z will be running at Infineon as well. Same with N1 concepts in their revamped S2000.
As die-hard fans of Time Attack, we hope the likes of Sierra Sierra and FXMD respond to the challenge as well, and make the trip to Infineon, to prove once and for all that the sport of TA, and the top level teams involved, need to be taken seriously by the motorsport community as a whole.
It’s one thing to “run the time” on a given course, But a completely different challenge and statement to run head to head with a top competitor (a proven race champion), on the same course, on the same day, in the same conditions. This is one of those opportunities that come along only so often. We hope the Tuner community rises to the challenge to take this Speed GT car down!
