Howard washes off the old oil from the pan.
A wire brush is used to strip all of the sealer residue off the pan.
Howard carefully cleans all of the old sealer off of the upper pan rail with a scraper.
A thin layer of sealer is applied to the oil pump pickup spacer. A very thin layer is used because you don't want sealer migrating out from here and into the engine's oil passages.
The pickup is torqued down, using the supplied longer bolts.
Here is the pickup in its new lower position. It will take more G's for the deeper layer of oil to slosh away from it now.
