A bead of sealer is applied to the lower pan and the spacer lowered on top of it. You don't want to overdo it with sealer as you don't want globs of this stuff floating around in your engine.
Then sealer is applied to the upper surface of the spacer.
Howard bolts the pan and spacer in place with the supplied longer bolts.
All done, we wait 30 minutes to allow the sealer to cure before putting in any new oil.
We filled the crankcase with 6 quarts of Motul 300V 5W-30 racing synthetic oil. This is up from the stock capacity of 5 quarts.
With more oil capacity, we now have more peace of mind when hot lapping or throwing the car into a drift. This is also a good mod to do if you are forgetful when it comes to checking your oil level, as the VQ is an engine known to have relatively high oil consumption. This is such an easy mod that any Z that gets driven hard should do it, there is simply no excuse.
