Project Corvette Stingray C7 Z51: Remodeling the Interior

,

The suede “Competition” steering wheel is an option for C7 Stingray, but ours didn’t come with it. It’s a personal preference, and if you wear Alcantara driving gloves at the track you don’t have to grip the wheel as tight to have a good hold on the wheel. We just think it feels good and looks cool.

The Competition steering wheel has some nice carbon fiber accents.

The sueded shift boot and shift knob go along with the steering wheel. The headliner and A-pillars of our “3LT” option package C7 are also made of this stuff, so it matches nicely.

First, we attack the shift knob and boot. The boot is rotated counter-clockwise a half-turn to unlock it and slid down the shifter to access a #25 Torx screw holding on the knob.

With the knob off we can remove the center console.

Howard removes the center console to change out the boot.
