Project DBA R35 GT-R: Getting the Ultimate Custom Car Cover with Covercraft

,

Our cover was long enough to cover almost all of the car’s tires and wrapped under the front and back of the car generously. Note that the cover fits over the GT-R’s rear wing pretty well.

This sort of fit also makes it harder for the wind to start making the cover flap around. In fact, it was pretty windy when we took these pictures!

We realized that having a cover with black sides might make the car hard to see if parked on the street at night, so to avoid someone hitting our car and claiming they didn’t see it, we got the optional reflective piping option to make the car more visible at night.

You can see the piping here in between the grey and the black sections of the cover. You can also see how the fabric was sectioned in the area of the wing for a better fit.

The Covercraft cover uses all double stitched, double overlapping seams for maximum strength and water resistance.

A white polyester thread is used for UV resistance and to prevent the thread from staining the paint.  Yes, we have seen this happen many times before with light colored cars!

Even with a pretty strong wind, our friend Jeany was able to easily install the cover by hooking it under the car on the upwind side and rolling it back. Jeany isn’t a model, she was just visiting so she could work on her car, so MotoIQ’s no model policy is still good!

So, now our car is protected by a superior cover. Once we used the cover for several days, all of the wrinkles came out, and the cover and fit looked even better. We are so impressed by Covercraft’s custom cover, we will be adding them to more of our shop’s stored project cars asap!
