Project Ford Fiesta ST, Getting Done-More Details

,

The car’s interior is as clean as any World Challenge or Grand Am car!  Look at the carbon tube protector on the cage crossbar to protect it and the fuel cell firewall from marring.
The clean interior paint job is really nice considering that it came out of a can.  Scott used Rustoleum paint to do the interior.  Rustoleum is pretty durable and approaches catalyzed two part paint in its durability, the only issue is it takes a long time to dry compared to other spray paints.
Most rule sets state that you have to run the stock dash so the car uses the stock dash skin. Look how the tubes go through the vent pipes.  Funny how things work out sometimes.  The Sparco suede steering wheel is more comfortable and grippy than stock.
The Sparco Evo 2 seat is generously cut for American size bodies.   If you have ever tried to sit in a Bride seat you know what I mean.  Check out the cool carbon fiber roll cage protectors.  Crow harnesses are used.
The Moroso battery box holds a Pegasus Ballistic lithium iron phosphorus super battery.  This little battery weights 8.4 lbs yet puts out an amazing 1000 cranking amps and is rated at 20 amp hours.  We chose this battery because of the high current demands of direct injection.  We have powered 8 liter turbo drift cars with this battery with absolutely no problems so it should be plenty enough for our 4 cylinder direct injection or not. The Fire Bottle AMRC 500 fire system is filled with FE-36.  FE-36 is the ozone safe replacement for Halon 1211. FE-36 puts out hydrocarbon fires dead, is non toxic and leaves no residue. Two nozzles are used, one for the engine and another for the fuel cell enclosure.  You can see the nice neat wiring here as well.  The stock harness has been modified and wrapped, with mesh covers held down by Adel cushion clamps.
You can see some of the cage detail here and more of the carbon tube protectors.

  1. There is still lots of work to get the weight down to 2300 lbs the fist fighting weight, I think once the weight goes down he will be able to come out on top of the Hondas with his ecoboost 1.6 litre engine and six speed 3.82 rear sets should be right in the ball park of the Hondas. If he could loose another 400 lb’s then he could be more than competitive. With a car that handles flat around corners. A limited slip differential up front would be icing on the cake.

  2. How did you get the tubes through the dash vents? Is the dash split and you can spread the vent hole around the tube? Nice touch for sure!
