Instead of cluttering my interior with enough aftermarket gauges to look like a cross between a B-52 cockpit and a reject from the set of the latest Fast and Furious movie, I turned to Aeroforce. Aeroforce makes a series of “scan gauges” that monitor OBD-II parameters on all vehicles manufactured in the US after 1996. For newer vehicles utilizing Car Area Networks (CAN) Busses, like the 2011+ Mustang, even more parameters can be read.
The Aeroforce Interceptor is a single (or dual) 52-mm gauge that installs easily into any gauge pod. It displays two CAN-BUS parameters at a time and can be set up to cycle through them. It can also read and clear OBD-II trouble codes and be set up as warning and/or shift light. The coolest part, though, is that it simply requires one plug to be installed into the OBD-II port—there is no splicing or installing sensors. For monitoring parameters not used by the PCM, the Aeroforce Interceptor also allows two analog temperature or pressure sensors to be installed and input into the device.
To make a clean installation of the Aeroforce Interceptor, I picked up a Roush vent pod. This pod allows the installation of a single 52-mm gauge into the driver’s side HVAC vent. It is a very simple procedure; I had the gauge fully installed in less than half an hour.
