The plastic clip strip that holds the carpet to the doorframe pinch rails had to be transferred from the old carpet. It takes a very heavy duty stapler to staple thick plastic to new carpet.

 

 

There were a couple places where the carpet had a little buckle and wouldn’t lay flat. The best I could do to fix this little flat was to cut the carpet at the fold, and layer the carpet over itself, securing it to itself with the stapler. This little fix is hidden under the sill trim when everything goes back together.

 

 

The next flaw was my mistake. Somehow I misjudged where the trim panels would end up, and I cut the carpet back too far.

 

 

After beating myself up a bit, I finally glued a piece of scrap carpet to the exposed metal…
