Project V8 RX-7: Part 14 – Going Wide with Rocket Bunny’s new FD3S Widebody Aero Kit

,

Douglas begins beating on the the fenderwell with the hammer evenly along its arch to stretch it up to meet with the new fender opening.  He makes this look pretty easy actually!
As the fenderwell gets closer to where it needs to be Doug trims off the excess hanging out past the fender.
The process is repeated a couple more times.  Eyeballing the highest arch inside the fenderwell, cutting a little more away from the fender, hammering on the fenderwell and cutting off the excess fenderwell until we’re satisfied we’ve attained the maximum amount of clearance possible all the way to the edge of the fender.
Once the process is complete, the edges are ground down to bare metal.
The fenderwell is tacked onto the fender in a few places around the lip.  Look at all that clearance!
