Radium Releases New Dry Break Refueling Connectors

  • Jeff Naeyaert

Radium Engineering is excited to announce the release of new refueling accessories for Radium fuel cells.  These products will allow users to obtain a complete system to accommodate any Radium fuel cell with an FCST. Radium is also introducing their first quick filling dry-break refueling products. CLICK HERE to get familiar with the Radium FCST.

In the past, when installing a Radium fuel cell equipped with an FCST, it was often left up to the installer to come up with a creative solution for building a fuel filling system, often combining parts together from different sources. These new kits allow the installer to obtain all necessary parts in one easy order and know that they are all going to work well together, taking out the guess work.

New Dry Break Refueling Connectors

Dry break connectors are used in many motorsports for quick filling of fuel cells or tanks. They do not use any screw-off caps, making the refueling process quicker and easier. These are ideal for highly competitive motorsports where refueling time is critical.

The dry break connectors are designed, prototyped and tested from the ground up by Radium Engineering.  They are 1.5″ diameter and are safe to use with all popular fuel types. CLICK HERE for a video of the dry break in action.

At the time of this release, these dry break connectors are ONLY available bundled in the Complete Refueling Kits shown below. In the future they will be available for individual purchase, more information will be provided at that time.

NOTE: Female dry break receivers are NOT compatible with gas station pump nozzles.

Complete Fuel Cell Refueling Kits

These kits include all parts necessary to build a fully functioning refueling system for an FCST equipped Radium fuel cell. All kits include an 8 gallon dump can with high-flow vent.  Several options are offered depending on the user’s needs and are described below:

20-0515-00 COMPLETE REFUELING KIT, DIRECT MOUNT, STANDARD FILL

This kit is a basic setup for filling directly into the cell via a screw-off cap and fill neck. A 1/2″ vent line is included as well as a Radium 8 gallon dump can. Kit contents are shown in picture below:

20-0515-01 COMPLETE REFUELING KIT, DIRECT MOUNT, 1.5IN DRY BREAK

This kit is also for direct filling into the fuel cell, but uses the Radium Dry Break connectors on the fill neck and dump can. A high-flow vent valve for the FCST and 3/4″ vent hose are included and specially designed for quick filling.

Please contact Radium Engineering if wishing to use a quick fill with an FCST that was manufactured before December 2018.

20-0515-02 COMPLETE REFUELING KIT, REMOTE MOUNT, STANDARD FILL

This kit is for installations that use a fender mounted fill point, or “remote fill”. A flexible hose is then ran from the fill point to the fuel cell, attaching to a swiveling angled fill neck. All included components of this kit are shown in the picture below. This kit can be used with standard gas station nozzles.

20-0515-03 COMPLETE REFUELING KIT, REMOTE MOUNT, 1.5IN DRY BREAK

This kit combines the quick filling dry break functionality with a remote mounted fill point. The 3-foot 1.5″ ID flexible filler hose can be cut to length and attaches to the angled swiveling fill neck on the FCST. Once again, an upgraded high flow vent valve for the FCST and 3/4″ vent hose are included to allow quick filling.

Please contact Radium Engineering if wishing to use a quick fill with an FCST that was manufactured before December 2018.

8 Gallon Dump Cans

These cans are available by themselves in either standard fill or quick-fill dry break configuration.  Click HERE for the product page.
