SEMA 2013: The Good, the Bad and The Ugly

,

willie robertson sema 2013I stopped for lunch one day around 1:30 across from the Skyjacker Suspensions booth and grabbed a picture of this cardboard cutout Willie Robertson of Duck Dynasty fame. People were lined up completely around the booth so after my lunch I checked out what was going on. It turns out he was doing an autograph session at 3:00. I thought we were supposed to be here for the cars people!
sema 2013Remember the twin engine Triumph powered streamliner motorcycle we featured in earlier SEMA coverage? I discovered an important note stuck to the bodywork. If people show up to rescue you after a wreck you want to make sure they do things correctly after all.
Scion xB supra engine sema 2013If this were my Scion I'd do my best to hide the intercooler. It would be tons of fun to surprise people with a rear drive 2JZ swapped xB.
scion xB 2jz sema 2013The Supra powerplant at home in the engine bay of the xB where it was never intended to be. This looks to be a fairly tidy swap.
rocket bunny v2 sema 2013The writing on the window pretty well says it all: Built to Park. #staycrushing. The owner of this FR-S is a good friend of ours and has expressed interest in tracking it, we'll see if it can keep up with our Project FR-S.
sema 2013I knew that without question I could get this shot if I headed to the Media Center with camera in hand. Half an hour later when I left the Media Center he was still asleep in the same position. It appears he fell asleep while in the midst of checking his phone. By the end of the show, heck even by the end of day two, people's batteries are starting to run low.
sema 2013The first year that I attended SEMA I was totally floored by this twin engine, quad supercharged, shared V-drive Ford Roadster. I had stopped to take a bunch of pictures along with a crowd of others while Sarah who I was with cruised right past it. Later on after I had caught up I was telling her how cool I thought the roadster was when she replied with a “that thing is here every year” comment. That was for sure my SEMA moment. This year after walking what I was certain was the entirety of the show I had still failed to see this car… until I was on my way out on the last day and then sure enough, there it was.

So there you have it, my coverage of the Good, the Bad and the Ugly from SEMA 2013. I can't wait to see what next year has in store, even if it is a V3 Rocket Bunny kit on every FR-S/BRZ. I'm sure I'll have my mind blown more than once if this year is any indication.
