Actually, this story should have been happening months ago. However, due to delays and backlogs in paperwork, the FR-S didn't go into auction until January. This was also the very first FR-S that went up for auction and they were able to grab it before one of those shadier used car dealers could.

TAngelo Racing also now has an official home in Philadelphia, PA with a new garage. Tony will be right at home because Pennsylvania is his home state. The auction took place in Long Island, NY, so after picking up the car, it was the long haul back to the shop in Philly.

Plans for the TAngelo Racing shop are mostly for using it as their hub for race operations. They may do a customer car here and there, but it's mostly for them and it will be fully setup with fabrication equipment and repair tools, including an alignment rack.

In the mean time, it is a bare shop with floor lifts and two post lifts that are operational. Taking full advantage of an empty shop, the team began to tear the car apart. First thing to go was that Boxer 4 Cylinder from Subaru.

Some care was taken, but mostly for large things. Hoses were cut, bolts were removed, and wires were detached. You can also begin to see how fast a flood car can begin to rust, take a look at that crankshaft pulley. Remeber, this car never drove on the roads that would have been salted down for snow yet. It is already beginning to show signs of rust!

Anything unpainted will end up the same way, but none of those parts will stay on this car anyway. Using the two-post lift, the crew loosened the front sub-frame bolts…

Then stacked pallets under it. Then, the nuts holding the top of the struts were removed along with the sub-frame bolts, driveshaft, and exhaust. Raising the car removed the engine in nearly one single motion. Now, if your significant other argues about having a lift in your garage, point this out to them!

It's outta there! I must say, I am surprised at the amount of room in the engine bay of the FR-S/BRZ chassis after seeing this.

You could put a fairly wide engine in here and probably have plenty of room for a good set of long tube headers! We've seen a Toyota V8 in the FR-S, an LS1 from some guys in Ohio, and some crazy Norwegian put a 2JZ-GTE into his, would we see an insane engine from Tony Angelo?
