A Garrett GTX2860R is in the future plans. These V-band turbine housings were released by Garrett a couple years ago and the flanges are specific to the GT25-28s with smaller flanges than the GT30-35 V-band housings. By using smaller flanges which are better sized to the smaller GT25-28 turbine wheel, the nozzle and diffuser angles are a much better match improving turbine efficiency. The smaller flanges reduce weight and make packaging easier too. Compared to the T2 flanged internally wastegated Garrett turbine housings, these V-band housings will make the same power but spool much faster. Perfect for Opy’s 1.6L engine which needs that quick spool for rally!
OEM plus brake upgrade! Nissan 300ZX Z32 brake calipers get fitted to Opy.
New mounting tabs had to be welded to the stock upright. No easy bolt-on upgrade here.
Here is the finished product to allow the fitment of the Z32 calipers. Built, not bought.
Rally car brake shield on a budget: drill out the stock dust shield.
There’s a new rear brake lever in the cockpit to help out with the tight turns in rally.
