The Performance Industry in the Face of the Pandemic, Turn 14 Distribution Doing it Right!

Customers are Important

Customer service is critical but cost containment is important for survival. To reduce cost, minimal stocking levels can be adjusted to have less reserve to match the lower sales numbers caused by economic downturns. Costs are thus reduced and if done correctly it will be transparent to the customer. Another measure is suppliers may be asked to adjust terms, to help share the economic burden.  Another cost cutting measure that will be transparent to the customer.

Partners are Important

Although inventory stocking numbers may be adjusted lower and longer terms for payment are temporarily renegotiated as cash flow preserving  and cost containment strategies, ordering will continue and business will go on as well. So suppliers can be assured that orders will still be placed as needed and margins will be maintained as much as possible.  Supplier cost containment strategies and expertise is shared with supplier partners to help them weather the downturn as well.  Of course these concessions hurt but if the hurt is shared fairly and business can be maintained, then its better for all in the long run.

Employee Safety In Pandemic

Best Practice Policies set in place by OSHA, The  Department of Labor and the CDC are followed.  In addition Turn 14 has initiated some additional Covid best practices to protect employees.

  • Shifts are separated by half an hour.
  • A cleaner sanitizes all high  touch areas in between shifts. In addition, self-cleaning procedures have been implemented for each day. This results in 3 cleanings per day.
  • Employee are tested before each shift for fever using non touch thermometers under an EZ up tent at the entrance to the building while maintaining proper social distancing. Any employee with a temperature higher than 100.4 will be asked to return home. It is understood that does not necessarily mean that an employee has have contracted COVID-19 but it is a precaution. Employees with a higher temperature will be instructed to remain away from work until symptom-free for 48 hours.

Overall Turn 14’s procedures should be a model for the rest of the performance industry and are really best practices for reopening or maintaining any business in this current environment.
