Another shot of the track’s trickness is the engineered impact absorbing barriers. The first parts of the wall are water filled plastic interlocking panels with collapsible supports. Safety has come a long way in the last few years. |
The cars all made about two single passes at first to recon the course. The noise started to attract a crowd at the hotel. The drift cars sounded pretty awesome. Dai makes a solo run. |
So does Chris Forsberg. |
Mike Essa’s screaming BMW can give you the chills. His car is perhaps the best sounding drift car. |
Dai and Tanner do a tandem run. |
So do Mad Mike and Chris Forsberg. |
Tony B and Mike Essa. |
After a few more runs, everyone starts going at once! The people in the Hotel start going nuts. |
Six cars all drifting inches apart at once, the noise is pretty fantastic. |
My lame photos don’t have much impact. There is probably better stuff on Formula D’s website and at wreckedmagazine.com. I bet Speedhunters.com has some good stuff as well. Oh well my job is to make the car go, not take pictures. |
Mind blowing, we are drifting the shit out of a 5 star hotel! |
After a few minutes of this, the Hotel management asks us to stop because they are worried that we are disturbing the guests. I can’t see how people who book into a hotel which has a track going through it would be bummed about noise but I am pretty sure our cars shook the building pretty good, especially Mad Mike’s ear splitting rotary! |
Well I am running out of time and will have to continue the adventure a little later!
