Bond, James Bond, unfortunately would not start the race after great practice and qualifying sessions.

Race day couldn't ask for better weather; it was a perfect day for racing. But in an early morning warm up the #007 Aston Martin V12 Vantage, which had qualified on the pole in GTD, got together with the #70 Mazda Prototype and the resulting crash destroyed both cars. They would not be starting the race and it would set a theme for the rest of the day, riddled with cautions and contact.

The race got off to an exciting start with the #5 Action Express car of Fittipaldi. They got a good jump on the field, but the #10 of Ricky Taylor quickly closed the gap in the first few laps.

The track crew works to repair the tire wall in Canada Corner that the #09 RSR Racing hit.

Shortly after the start, specifically on lap 4, the #09 RSR Racing of Duncan Ende and the #78 of Scott Mayer made contact in Canada Corner. The contact spun the #09 into the tire wall, ending the day for the RSR Racing Team who have already wrecked two cars earlier this season.

Debris brought the field under caution again on lap 10, bunching up the field for tight racing.

Shortly after the restart, at lap 10, the field is brought under caution again, for debris, which bunched up the field again for tight racing.
