At lap 21 the #81 Tully's Coffee Porsche went off in Canada Corner, and brought out a full course caution; giving an opportunity for pit stops. During the pit stop, Jordan Taylor took over the #10 in a driver change. And the #5 Action Express swapped drivers for Joao Barbosa while encountering brake issues. During the brake repair, they lost the lead to Memo Rojas in his #01 Ford Ecoboost Riley Prototype.
After the third caution of the day, the cars were finally allowed to stretch their legs. Midway through the race the field was well defined. In the PC Class, the #25 8starmotorsports of Sean Rayhall led his class in an Oreca FLM09. He continued to hold off the rest of the class lap after lap.
