Immediately what was learned from the video was put to practice and we knocked out a 1:43.113. The only issue was, our used brake pads were on their last legs. Plans changed and with the record secure, I was to turn off kill mode and take out our Evo X’s owner for his first on-track experience. Mike Lewin’s advice for the session, 70% speed. I translated that to mean 10/10ths and use a revised line through the Esses. This translated to more speed, but unfortunately our transponder had to be removed for times when we had passengers in the vehicle. Was I faster overall? The world will never know, but it was a great way to end a stellar event.
Professional Awesome now owns the Enthusiast Overall, Street Overall and Limited AWD records at Road Atlanta. We will fight extremely hard to take back the Limited Overall record and loved seeing all the competitors from throughout the country (and continent!) make the trip to one of the nation’s premier tracks. We’ll be back to Road Atlanta sooner, rather than later, for the GTA Pro-AM event. This time in the Limited Class beast with our sites set on times never before seen by man!
