In 2013 the Type R received forced induction in the form of Kraftwerks Race Kit C38-71 supercharger. It is running strong and more than capable of a second season of Time Attack. In 2013 it ran with 464 WHP and torque at the wheels was 275. This year the engine's output has been boosted to 520 WHP and 328 WTQ. It has a Bell Racing intercooler and the motor receives air through a Skunk 2 Intake and throttle body. Fuel enters the engine compartment via ID 1300 injectors and, after use, exits via a K-Tuned Ram Header and a custom 3” exhaust.
As you can tell the heart of this Type R can easily be replicated with readily accessible parts. The challenge is the manner in which the parts are put together, and that is the job of Eric. There are obviously some custom parts, because few swaps are so straight forward that some customization is not required, but you will see as the list continues to grow that you could duplicate this build.
K-Tuned, a shop based in Ontario, Canada and led by John Veloso, has become very well known for manufacturing those hard to find parts and building some insane drag cars. Jimmy and Eric have taken advantage of these in this Time Attack build. Looking under the hood closely there is a K-Tuned header, K-Tuned power steering delete, K-Tuned TPS sensor, K-Tuned conversion harness, and a K-Tuned fuel rail. Coming soon to the Type R, K-Tuned's Billet shifter box. This piece is art. Very effective art! K-Tuned is a proudly Canadian shop focuses upon having all mass produced items built in either Canada or the United States.
