Ciao Bella: Part 2 – More Italian F1 GP, Rally cars, AMG Driving Academy, and more!

,

Here’s a close-up of the carbon rear wing.

Speaking of Rally cars I have to show you this picture I took next to this sweet Lancia Delta Integrale, which was taken at the Franciacorta circuit the following day (more on that circuit and the AMG Driving academy experience with Brembo in the later pages).  And, while it looks like a quiet scene, let me paint the audible picture of a Ford Cosworth Rally racer just 15 feet to the left of us on the dyno!

The last time I spent any real time in Italy was in 1992.  I was turning 18, and all I could think about were the these Lancia Delta Integrale HFs I’d see on the street, which reminded me of hatchback versions of the E30 M3, only cooler (only because we don’t get them in the USA) and turbocharged.  It had been 23 years since I’d seen one, so this was quite a nostalgic sighting for me.

8-time World Motocross Champion Tony Carioli himself was among the “who’s who” hanging out in the Magneti Marelli hospitality tent.

It was interesting to me to find out that, just days after this picture, he raced at the Glen Helen Pavilion in San Bernardino, which is in the Inland Empire where I grew up and lived in until 10 years ago.  It’s Motocross heaven around there.

In the Magneti Marelli hospitality, guests were also able enjoy a little Formula 1 simulation.
