Now for the stuff that MotoIQ is famous for not knowing anything about.  The aero kit is a JDM fan boi dream Rocket Bunny wide body with a 50mm increase in fender width.  The hood is a custom part with a scoop to clear the LS valve covers and throttle body.  The wheels are just dummy parts used to check to see if a 275 tire would work on a 9″  wheel and still fit in the new Formula D tire compliance template.  The actual wheels are going to be new Dai Yoshihara signature seres wheels that are going to be forged and lightweight.  You will see these at Long Beach hopefully.  The size will be 18 x9 with a 3mm offset and the final set point adjusted with spacers since that is a tuning item with this spool equipped car.  The odd size is due to the new Formula D tire restriction rule.  The car will be limited to a 265-275 tire at its 2600 lb with driver weight.  Look for a MotoIQ article explaining the controversial parts of the new rules soon!

A central easily accessable jacking point speeds tire changes.  The 5″ oval exhaust is sick looking!

The top hung Wilwood master cylinders and pedals are mounted on a reinforced plate welded to the firewall.  A Wilwood balance bar is used for infinite adjustability of brake bias.  A hydraulic prop valve is also used to adjust the brake pressure kneeepoint.

Wilwood Dynapro front caliper and 13″ solid rotor.  Lightweight solid rotors are used because drift cars do not brake heavily.

The rear wheels are braked with twin Dynapro calipers, one controlled by the brake pedal, the other by the driver operated lever.  SPD sells this brake set up for S chassis builders.

The KW camber plates are rotated and used to adjust steering axis and caster instead of camber.  A triangulated strut tower brace will be fabricated soon.

Dai’s car is famous for its sweet handling.  The 2011 rules changes have really affected the car’s suspension and the team is working hard to find the  lost performance.
