Driver Profiles: Andrea Pathiakis

Question Time!

First off let's tell our readers which series you drive in.

I currently race in the Southern California Lucas Oil Regional Off Road Racing Series (LORORS).

How did you get your start into cars and racing?

I grew up in the off road industry starting off my earlier years rock crawling in my dad’s Jeep; I remember sitting in my car seat in the back of his vehicles! I started riding dirt bikes at a young age and continue to do so. We usually rode on weekends when there was an off road race and my dream of actually racing started from there.

In 2007 I raced my first open desert race at the MORE Powderpuff Race for the Cure and posted one of the fastest lap times. From there I continued driving and co-driving in about 3 races per year and finally in 2011, I decided to build my own race truck to drive in the Lucas Oil Regional series. Fast-forward to now and I have already won my first short course Mini Stock Championship as a rookie.

What is your racing series of choice to drive in?

There is no other series like the Lucas Oil Off Road Series. They have not only been of huge support for my team and I but do so many positive things for the off road industry.

Who are your current sponsors?

ICON Vehicle Dynamics, SDHQ, Nissan Motorsports, Method Race Wheels, Lucas Oil, DMZ Fab & Race Prep, MOMO Italy, Hellfab, and Off Road Vixens.

Who was your first sponsor and how did they help you?

ICON Vehicle Dynamics and Sean Kepler who continues to be the best crew chief and team manager. ICON provided me with the best shocks for my truck and also spot to prep the #11 along with continued race day support.

What advice would you give to someone or a team wanting to get into Racing?

I would tell them to put their entire soul into it because off road racing is not for the faint of heart! You have to live and breathe it. They need to base their success on not how many trophies they can count but on the positive impact they put on their team and industry.

What series would you like to progress to?

Definitely to the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series. I’d also like to race in a SCORE Baja 1000 race.

Who do you look to for guidance with your driving; do you have any racing idols?

I look for all of the feedback that my crew chief Sean Kepler can give me. He gives me the opportunity to try everything myself first and then provides the skills that are missing whether it's posting faster lap times or taking a corner faster.

My racing idols though are Rob MacCahren, Rick Huseman, and Corry Weller; another female driver in short course.
