MPTCC Round 1
While Michele's engine dramas were occurring, there was a fight for second place going on! Steve Rockwood had passed Justin Taylor and held second place for a portion of the race. The turbo 2.0L sedan was showing that power could be better than weight.

MPTCC Round 1
Despite the disadvantage in torque, the S2000 of Taylor held a weight and handling advantage over the G20. Where Rockwood would over power Taylor, Taylor would be able to hold a line with a better advantage inside the oval.

MPTCC Round 1
Eventually, it would be more than Rockwood could handle and he would need to conserve his tires for Race Two, Justin Taylor would pull ahead by the end of the race with a margin of over 3 seconds by the end of the race.

MPTCC Round 1
Uncontested, Edik Stepanyan would walk away from the MPTCC field by a Margin of Victory of 1:00.900. Edo was also able to stay in the 1:52 second range during the entire race.

MPTCC Round 1 Podium Steve Rockwood
While the distance was great, 70/30 Racing's Steve Rockwood was able to earn a podium spot in Race One of Round One. MotoIQ Project G20 still had it in it and so does Rockwood.

MPTCC Round 1 Podium Justin Taylor
An impressive second place by Justin Taylor in the Rockstar Garage S2000. His lightweight roadster showed that while horsepower is still supreme at Auto Club Speedway, weight and handling are still prime for victories.

MPTCC Round 1 Podium Edik Stepanyan
However, the exclamation point of that statement of weight and handling would be made by Edo Stepanyan. With his large Margin of Victory and Michele dropping out for Race One, would there be anyone who could touch him in Race 2?
