Fixing Mazda B6ZE Vibrations With Fluidampr

The stock pulley had a crank trigger wheel and a dust shield bolted to the back of it.  The crank trigger wheel needs to be reused.

We noticed that the stock balancer has a slight wobble to it.  On close inspection, we noticed that the elastomer inertia ring bonded rubber was starting to crack and deteriorate.  This can be an issue with OEM and aftermarket balancers that use elastomers.  The silicone fluid in the Fluidampr will never break down like this.

Here is the cleaned-up crank trigger wheel with the Fluidampr.

The OEM trigger wheel is bolted to the back of the Fluidampr.

The assembled Fluidampr weighs 329.2 grams or almost 0.73 lbs.  Although it weighs more than stock, we think that the slight underdrive and the superior vibration damping may give more power.

While we were in there we replaced the damper crank bolt with a new Genuine Mazda part.

  1. I remember when I put the Fluidampr on my STI.
I started the engine and heard the exhaust, but didn’t noticed any vibrations through the seat.
Confused I touched the shifter and confirmed.
    Oh ya, it is running.
    Made a big difference.
