Odi Bakchis and Tyler McQuarrie
A spin cost Odi Bakchis the win against Tyler McQuarrie

Odi Bakchis in his Forged Motorsport S14 went up against Tyler McQuarrie in his Falken Tire 350Z, but a spin on his follow run allowed the advantage to be given to McQuarrie. Falken teammates of Darren McNamara and Vaughn Gittin, Jr. took to the line next and while a muffler fell off one of the cars, it didn’t matter and Vaughn Gittin, Jr. took the win from D-Mac. The 410 Cubic Inch Roush-Yates powered Falken Mustang of Justin T. Pawlak took on the Turbo 4 Cylinder Powered Scion Racing tC of Ken Gushi, but the big V8 was too much and JTP took the win!

D-Mac couldn’t stop the momentum of JR! Epic Comeback of 2011?

Next was the Grudge Match of the Nexen Tire/Mazdatrix RX-8 of Kyle Mohan and the Discount Tires/Falken Tires S13 240SX of Daijiro Yoshihara. Mohan took Dai out early and nearly crushed the title chances for Dai by taking him out in the first round of Eliminations at Round 3 just a few weeks ago, now it was time to settle the score as Dai pulled up to the line. Falken Tire and the SPD Metalworks crews lined the fence to watch anxiously to see their driver, the People’s Hero take on the one they call the Menace.

Kyle Mohan gave Dai Yoshihara a battle.  With Dai nursing a sour engine, the S13’s speed advantage over the RX-8 was reduced.

On Kyle’s follow run, he straightened out going into the inner oval, then Dai pulled a gap on Kyle up to the finish, giving Dai the advantage he needed. During Kyle’s lead run Dai was able to stay right on Kyle, even getting to his door. The win went to Daijiro Yoshihara, as the gap in his lead run and the tight following run gave him the full advantage. This was the first time that Dai was able to pass Kyle and win, is this the momentum that Dai and the SPD Metalworks crew were looking for? BOSO driver, Ross Petty, in his Falken Tire S15 Silvia took on the NOS Energy Drink 370Z driver, Chris Forsberg. Ross gave a great effort until the end of his second run as he spun prior to crossing the finish line. This gave Forsberg and his NOS Energy Drink Nissan 370Z the win!

Not this time! Daijiro wins against Mohan!

Now we move on to the Great 8 with Matt “Mattley Crew” Powers in his Need for Speed “Thor 2” took on Red Bull’s Ryan Tuerck in the Gardella built Chevy Camaro going first. Despite him needing to climb through the driver’s window, Matt Powers still was driving the badly damaged S14 giving his car the full Saturday Night Short Track style that Wall is known for. Powers followed right on the door through the infield and stayed that way to the finish, but his lead run was very sloppy and even admitted so afterwards, so that gave the pass to Ryan Tuerck. Conrad Grunewald in his Hankook Tires Camaro went up against rival tire Falken and Tyler McQuarrie’s 350Z. McQuarrie gave up his chances for a podium after spinning on his second run and Grunewald moved on! 2011 has been such a struggle for Grunewald and for him to make it this far has been wonderful, could he go further, though? In order for him to make the 2012 season, he may need to!

Sloppy runs make for sloppy results as Powers loses against Tuerck.
