Global Time Attack Round 2 – Road Atlanta

A field of 23 cars took to Road Atlanta for the Two Day event to find out who would take home cash or Global Time Attack’s greatest prize, steak knives. This would be the first time that Global Time Attack would visit the legendary road course in Georgia and the small field showed. With many unknowns and racing in the same weekend as Formula Drift, Formula 2000, and Formula Atlantic, how would the various tire rubbers react with each other? Would the dirt and marbles from the Drifting have an effect on lap times?

Really, the event was successful and there were only a few disasters, the two biggest being on Saturday with the wrecks of Jacob Tanaka in the Tanaka Racing Chevrolet Corvette and Kevin Parlett in the SOHO Motorsports Infiniti G35. The Tanaka Racing Corvette ran off course and forward into the tire barriers, damaging the frame and left front wheel and breaking the steering rack. The SOHO Motorsports G35 suffered greater damage and probably won’t be repaired.

| The Tanaka Racing/Nitto Tires Corvette looks worse than it really is. The frame can be straightened and the wheel and steering rack replaced. We’ll see this chassis again in nearly new condition. |

| The Deftmotion Honda S2000 also had a brief off, spinning into the dirt and backing into the tire barriers. It only suffered broken tail lights and a damaged rear bumper. |

| Chris Rado in the Need for Speed/Descendent Racing Unlimited FWD Scion tC had a scary moment when his tire blew out at 165-170MPH! There was some cosmetic damage to the tC’s body, but the damage was fixed and he was out again to make time. |
