Global Time Attack Round 3 – The Chicago Recap

These shots are because we here at MotoIQ appreciate detail.

On Sunday we awoke ready for action. We were staying a good hour from the track and woke up to a cool dry morning with a nice sunrise, as we made our way to the track, RAIN. LOTS OF RAIN. The previous forecast of rain in the afternoon had changed. It rained the ENTIRE day! And while many of the competitors still went out on track there was little chance anyone would better their times. The only major changes for day 2 was that Jeremy Rohrs in his R35 GTR were not in attendance, and Andrei Tsaran and the TH motorsports crew showed up in their Unlimited GT AWD STi. Rumor has it they had been rebuilding the motor in an effort to make the event and they made the trek out to compete on Sunday. The sessions were filled with those searching for the fast rain line and others having fun practicing their drift techniques. The only major event was that after their first outing on track TH Motorsports was towed back in the pits with some sort of engine trouble. I do not have the facts relative to the final diagnosis but from the discussion it did not sound promising. We wish them well in getting it back together!

What do GST – World Racing – and Kognition Aero have in common? They all hold water…

Essentially when the rain hit it had officially meant that the Saturday results would be our final results. And while it did detract from the amount of people that chose to go out on track, it did NOT keep the Just for Kicks car show people from showing up. While I do not have a final # there must have been at least 30 cars that showed up despite the crappy conditions and long drive for some of them. While I am not certain as to ALL of the awards presented I saw checks handed out for Best Audio, Best Exterior, Best Interior, Best of Show, and Best Team representation. One thing is for sure they were out in force and the rain did NOT keep them from having a good time.
