Global Time Attack Round 6 – Buttonwillow Raceway II

There was another reason that this was a big event, despite being held on a Wednesday. It was also the Super Lap Battle that is put on by GTA John Naderi's alma mater, Super Street Magazine. For a while, the Super Lap Battle was the only Time Attack racing that appealed to the tuner and import crowd. Now, with GTA, the return of Redline Time Attack, NASA, and even grassroots Time Attack racing appealing to the younger crowd, time attack has a decent looking future ahead of it as far as car count goes.

Mike Kojima was down with the Evasive crew! It's that big.

Mike was helping Evasive dial in their FR-S. Here is is talking to driver Rob Walker about how the car was responding to suspension changes.  The Evasive car handled well but its low boost supercharger did not make a whole lot of power.  Still the car is currently the fastest FR-S around Buttonwillow 13.

It was a big deal for the drivers, too, as this is the final event for them in 2012. So, they were pushing hard to set records before the start of 2013.

Dave & Allison brought their AMS sponsored EVO out to compete. This car was also campaigned at Pike's Peak this year! Just goes to show what Super Lap Battle and GTA are doing for time attack. It also shows just how massive the F-Wing tC is.

The FR-S made a big splash at SEMA inspite of Ford's efforts with the Mustang. Now the FR-S is showcasing  its racing potential. There were 3 out at SLB/GTA. That may not sound like a lot, but also realize that this car was released just this year! That is 3 brand new, off the show room floor cars competing in time attack. We haven't seen this in quite some time.
