For the front brakes, six piston Wilwood calipers squeeze unvented Wilwood sprint car rotors on alloy hats. Wilwood Polymatrix brake pads are used. Many pro drift cars use lightweight unvented rotors due to the brakes not being used too heavily by some drivers although some teams are going back to vented rotors as the cars get faster and 'being found that a heavier car and wider tires classifications are usually faster for most courses.
You can't seem them but the brake lines are custom cut, longer braided steel teflon lined hoses. The front wheels are Rotiform CHD-T three piece with a Falken RT615K tire in 255/35-18.
The rear brakes are twin Willwood 4 piston calipers, one caliper being foot operated, the other hand operated on an independent hydraulic circuit for use as a turning brake. Like the front brakes the rear brakes use solid rotors on alloy hats. Wilwood Polymatrix brake pads are used.
The rear wheels are also Rotiform CHD-T in Miami Blue shod with a 295/40-18 Falken RT615K. Matt really likes the Falkens as he feels that they are a very consistent tire as the tread wears, which is quickly with his driving style!
A Tilton 900 series pedal box is used with Tilton dual brake master cylinders and clutch cylinder. The 900 series pedal assembly is made of sturdy billet and has both ball and needle bearings in the pivots for great stiffness and positive balance bar operation. The balance bar is on stiff gimbals so the brake bias will remain constant under hard braking. Another cool thing is an adjustable pedal ratio for the brake pedal.
A remote adjuster for the balance bar makes it easy for Matt to change the brake bias on the fly if he has to.
A Tilton 3 chamber reservoir makes dealing with the brake hydraulics a lot easier. Both brake master cylinders and the clutch reservoir are all contained in one integrated unit.
This lever operates the second set of rear Wilwood calipers and is used to help initiate oversteer in some situations just like a rally car.
