LA Auto Show 2016: Nerd’s Eye View – Ford

This engine is fully loaded, with features with cam phasing on both sets of intake and exhaust cams.
A roller rocker is used on the high pressure fuel pump running off the cam to minimize friction and probably increase life. This is a feature that Audi would have been wise to implement for early direct injected A4 owners with the 2.0T engine.
The intake manifold, as on all modern cars, is made from plastic. This appears to be made in two pieces of injection molded plastic which have then been ultrasonically welded together.
Your little kids can drive Mustangs too!
Ford created some awesomeness in making of the 5.2L V8 Voodoo engine for the GT350. As with all the best engines, this one is hand-built.
Composite oil pans will become the norm for weight reduction. There’s the white plastic colored piece in the pan which I’m guessing is for baffling or maybe windage.
