The car that restarted modern EV development was the GM EV1 back in 1996. A number of my current co-workers worked on the EV1.
This section of the museum has many famous movie cars such as Herbie! You should go check out Herbie, as he’s got some pretty badass mods.
This yellow vehicle is a 1913 Mercer Type 35-J Raceabout. The naming convention reminds me of fighter aircraft. Anyway, these vehicles that are a century old really fascinate me. They have foreign levers and controls and things like the speedometer driven off a gear on the front wheel. But it also has familiar things on the engine like spark plugs and intake and exhaust manifolds. Look to the right of the Mercer and you can see a very clean Toyota 2000GT.
The Petersen Automotive Museum is a great place to take the family even with little ones.
Currently at the bottom level of the museum is all things Bugatti. Bugatti is very much known for its artistry, so everything on this this level is very artsy such as the little creative car model in front of the real car.
This car made my day, a Bugatti EB 110. It was the first supercar that I really liked, and this was my first time seeing one. I remember reading about it in Road & Track. I remember when Michael Schumacher bought one. If the greatest F1 driver of all-time bought one, it had to be awesome!
