With Project EF's engine chopped in half, it was time to send the head out for inspection, repair, and refresh.
Big thanks to ALANIZ Racing Heads based out of Los Angeles.  Joe Alaniz has more Honda engine building and modification knowledge in his pinky them most kids with Civics have in their whole body.  Joe machined and lapped the mounting surface perfectly flat, installed new valve seals and performed proper cleaning throughout.
Joe's stamp of work approval helps him to honor and warranty work if need be.  His detailed explanations and attention to detail makes the process clear to the customers so there is no confusion about the end result.  Hence why ALANIZ Racing Heads stands so strong behind his work.
To round out the new package, a JE Pro Seal head gasket was used.  Thanks to Kenneth Rodcharoen and Jonathan Roach of Ken's Racing Engines for the recommendation on this gasket.  The JE Pro Seal gasket employs a viton rubber coating which helps with a more true seal, as well as being .004 of an inch thicker then OE.
With the block surface lapped and prepped, the ARP head studs get carefully threaded in.  Making sure the block threads are clean and the studs spin easily under hand tightening is important.
With the JE Pro Seal head gasket carefully placed onto the block surface, it's time for the head to be reinstalled. (In this picture, sharp eyed readers will notice the head dowel pins are not yet in, don't worry, we didn't forget them).
Karla back at it and putting my engine together in a much more efficient manner than I would've done.
