MPTCC Round 4: Buttonwillow 2013 Season Finale

,

The last race of the season was shaping out to be a relatively uneventful one considering the championship point standings had pretty much worked themselves out on Saturday.  With Justin being out of the race and Edik still MIA, it was looking like the MotoIQ Project G20 was going to be out on track with no one in its own class to play with.

Then it was time for the MPTCC field (or single car) to line up in pre-grid for the final time in the 2013 season, but wait….everyone was there!?!?  Not only was Edik able to borrow a Hondata ECU to use for the race, but Justin Taylor was ready to race as well.

The Rockstar Garage/Buddy Club S2000 might have been out for the count, but that did not mean we should've counted Justin out.  Justin rented this PTD prepped BMW E36 at the track and entered it in TU!

Sunday's race would feature a standing start and our racers would start about 25 car lengths behind the USTCC field.  When the green flag dropped, Steve was able to get the jump on Edik and they entered turn one with the MotoIQ Project G20 out in front.  About two laps later Edik was able to complete a successful pass on Steve and set his eyes on the rest of the USTCC field.

A couple laps later our boys caught up with the rest of the USTCC field and they began picking them off one by one.  After the race we kept hearing whispers from the USTCC guys wondering “what the heck was in that Integra?!”  They could not believe that an old model Acura was leaving them behind in the turns as if they were standing still.

Meanwhile on the other side of the track…Justin was getting used to his new rental “racecar”.  ðŸ˜‰

When the checkered flag dropped it was Edik Stepanyan who took first place, with Steve in second and Justin coming in third.  This was the icing on the cake for Edik's 2013 MPTCC Tuner Under Championship!  Congratulations to Edik, his family/pit-crew, and all of his sponsors:  M-Factory Competetion Products, SavOnTrafficSchool.com, Skunk2, Wilwood Brakes, Turbo Joe Tuning, Nitro Lube, Alaniz Racing Cylinder Heads, JE Pistons, Mirage Autobody and Paint, Syncrotech Transmission and the MPTCC's series sponsor Motul.

As we close the book on another season of the MotoIQ Pacific Tuner Car Championship, we would like to take a moment to not only congratulate our 2013 season champion Edik Stepanyan, but to also thank all our drivers and teams for their dedication and support of the series.  Thanks to the help of our main sponsor Motul and the continued support of NASA we've been able to continue to grow and increase our overall reach.  We already have 3 new drivers ready to race with us next season and we'll continue to recruit more.  Are you ready to race in the MPTCC?!
