The intake manifold is a Hypertune unit. If you ever get the chance to see a Hypertune manifold in person and off an engine, you'll be able to see that each unit is a work of art. The welds are perfect and absolutely uniform. The runners are CNC machined billet aluminum and each runner has a velocity stack at the entrance from the plenum. This one was custom made for the Tilton EVO to use a Ford drive by wire throttle body. I think it is from a Ford Falcon XR8 and has a 75mm throttle plate.
The Cosworth 2.2L 4G63 engine uses a 94mm stroke, an 86mm bore, and a Cosworth CNC ported head and valvetrain. I believe Tilton is using camshafts of their own choice however. These were custom engines for Tilton so the compression ratio is special. The twin scroll Full-Race exhaust manifold was selected because….it's the bomb. It was proven on the Sierra Sierra EVO and there was no reason to re-invent the wheel. Turbosmart CompGate-40 wastegates are used to regulate turbo speed.
Here is a Cosworth 4G63 EVO crankshaft. It is finished with an isotropic superfinish (REM) which gives it that polished appearance. This is the strongest crankshaft available off the shelf as it has larger diameter crankshaft journals to increase the amount of main and rod journal overlap making this crank much stronger than any other off the shelf 4G63 EVO crankshaft. Yes, sometimes I miss working at Cosworth.
A plain journal bearing BorgWarner SX366 turbo is used. This particular SX366 is very similar to the BW EFR-9180, but lacks the ball bearing, titanium aluminide turbine wheel, ported shroud compressor housing, and integrated blow off valve. Wheel tubs were also required for tire clearance at maximum suspension travel and full lock steering. The Tilton guys did a clean job fabricating the tubs. That yellow glove is meant for the competition.
The Voltex carbon fiber hood has plenty of vents in it to extract heat from the engine bay.
The intercooler and oil cooler system were fabricated at Hypertune. Turbosmart silicone hoses are used throughout. Constant tension hose clamps are used throughout the intercooler system. No dumb T-bolt clamps here because when the intercooler tubing is built correctly, T-bolt clamps are unnecessary. The two large XRP hoses go between the oil pump and the oil tank towards the rear of the car.
