For a head gasket, we decided to use an Apexi MLS part. Like many Japanese head gaskets, the Apexi part has extreme quality for great sealing, even with turbo boost.
What sets the Apexi and many Japanese gaskets apart is that they have a folded stopper layer which is an extra layer of stainless steel folded around the gasket’s fire ring. This puts much more sealing pressure around the cylinder bore offering extreme blowout resistance while still having good water jacket sealing. This is much better than your typical stamped MLS gasket.
With our 2.2 liter bottom end with this great flowing head and cams that should have a pretty snappy response, we can’t wait to see how our engine turns out, stay tuned!
