Project E90 M3: Part 2 – Macht Schnell Bypass Track Pipes and EAS 80mm Exhaust Tips

,

As you can see the stock mid-pipe has two 400-cell primary cats, two 200-cell secondary cats, and two resonators. The mid-pipe connects to the front headers via a 2-bolt flange, has a few sets of hangers in the middle, and connects to the muffler via a ball-socket joint at the rear.
Once removed, the expert fabricators at Kooks Headers cut off the factory 400-cell primary cats, while the 200-cell secondaries remained intact.
The next step was to clean up the cut with a grinding disc.
The fabrication on the Macht Schnell “Bypass Track Pipes” is top notch. The TIG welded O2 bungs ensure a strong, reliable leak-free connection.
Next we used the included Macht Schnell two-bolt clamps to connect our test pipes to our mid-pipe. Tighten the bolts down and done! That’s it.
Mount the mid-pipe back up, connect the flanges and screw in the O2 sensors and you’re ready to go.
