Project E90 M3: Part 2 – Macht Schnell Bypass Track Pipes and EAS 80mm Exhaust Tips

,

The EAS 80mm exhaust tips come pre-drilled and include their own rivets. The installation is easy. All you need is a drill and a rivet gun and you’re good to go.
Before riveting on the new tips, we had to drill out the rivets that hold on the factory exhaust tips. FYI – It’s easier if you have a sharp drill bit and someone to hold the muffler while you’re drilling.
Notice the 80mm EAS tips are significantly larger than factory, and the single-wall tip has a more aggressive look to it.

Located in Anaheim California, European Auto Source (EAS) has been open since 2005 and are an industry leader with an extensive background specializing in M-models. As a supporter of the Time Attack and track-day scene, they actively participate and provide support both on and off-track for anything from superchargers, BBKs, coilovers, exhaust installs, etc… in their 8,000sq/ft facility. They also have a Dynojet 224xLC dyno in-house, the same model that we’re using for our testing in this article at Roush Yates Performance.

Once completed, the exhaust bolts right back in place. The black muffler now blends in to the underside of the car and further accentuates the aggressive chrome tips.
Back on the Dyno at Roush Yates for to see what difference the test pipes make.

With the exhaust system complete, we headed back over to Roush Yates to take our final run on their Dynojet 224xLC. With the addition of the Test Pipes, the motor made an impressive 379whp @ 8,200rpm and 276 lb/ft of torque @ 5,700rpm. A peak to peak increase of 18 whp and 16 lb/ft of torque over our otherwise bone-stock car with an ESS Tune.
