Project FD RX7 Restomod: Part 22 – DC Power Alternator, Raceonly Pulleys, FFE Hall Trigger Kit

DC Power 180A HP Alternator FD RX-7We mounted the DC Power 180 Amp HP High Output Alternator onto our engine and were ready to install the new pulleys.

Raceonly Billet Pulleys FD RX-7 FD3S 13BThe Raceonly FD RX7 Pulley Kit is a complete solution with beautiful 6061 billet aluminum pulleys for the crank, water pump, alternator, power steering, idler pulley, and includes stainless steel hardware.  This pulley kit is designed to eliminate the factory air pump and engineered to underdrive both the alternator and water pump to prevent cavitation.

Raceonly vs stock FD3S RX-7 Main Crank Eshaft PulleyThe 110mm Raceonly Crank Pulley is a single piece made from 6061 aluminum and is much lighter than the 110mm OEM 2-piece steel crank pulley.  I really like how this main pulley is the same size as OEM whereas most aftermarket billet aluminum crank pulleys are smaller diameter underdrive pulleys that slow down the speed of the rest of the accessories.

Raceonly vs stock FD3S RX-7 idler pulleyOne of my favorite things about the Raceonly pulley kit is the billet aluminum idler pulley.  Most pulley kits do not replace the ugly factory idler, and this blue idler pulley that comes with a brand-new bearing pre-installed makes the entire accessory drive system look far more cohesive.

  1. Looks so good! This article told me that my alternator on my Subaru EJ is kind of tired. pushing out high 13s voltage only.

  2. The “no name” brand pulley is GReddy. One of the first under drive pulley sets to come out for the FD in the late 90s.

  3. Does the trigger wheel work with the Apexi power fc ecu? Been a while since I’ve worked on the car and have forgotten more than half when I was knee deep into the FD 10+ years ago.
