Project G37 Sedan Fast Intentions Exhaust

Full disclosure: while I did receive a bit of a discount on this exhaust I still paid for the lion’s share out of my own pocket.  I still feel obligated to mention how deeply impressed with the alignment of the entire system especially at the exhaust tips where often at this step most aftermarket exhausts mess up the centering of the tips within the rear bumper.  Little alignment differences 6’ upstream in the exhaust system have drastic effects at the end and considering all the options available they couldn’t have nailed the fitment any better.

This rigidity brace had to go due to the larger diameter of the new exhaust system.

Recapping from last time our best run was 295hp with the Stillen intake on the stock ECU.  We let the car do a full cool down, brought the oil up to temp and made our pass.  On the dyno we saw 13 hp peak increase with the exhaust and high-flow cats for a total of 308hp.  So, overall we’ve gained 23hp just from breathing modifications.  Omar, our tuning pro from UpRev, says that with both of these modifications the torque converter isn’t locking up like it should which could be problematic in the long-term for the transmission.  Fast Intentions also recommended getting the car tuned after the exhaust in combination with the intake so there are no surprises here just a warning for those that go down this path of modifications without a tune.

Our poor man’s M3 is starting to wake up in the power department but by now we really need to hear how this system sounds.

  1. in the videos were the cars non resonated or 18in resonator, im looking to buy one and am just concerned the 18inch resonator will be to quiet and the non resonator will have to much drone and lose the deep sound. if you could get back to me thatd be great thanks.

  2. We got the 18″ resonators on the 2.25″ exhaust. The resonators are shown on page 2 of the article. I love the exhaust. It’s quiet enough when I’m cruising around on surface streets or on the highway but there’s nothing quiet about it once your over 4k RPM’s. On cold startup my neighbors definitely hear the car. It’s the perfect compromise in my opinion compared to other louder exhausts that sound great when you’ve got your foot stuffed on the go fast pedal but make you hate the car when you’re just driving normally.
