Project G37 Sedan Fast Intentions Exhaust

Please excuse the chirping in the background during the recording.  I believe that’s some interference with my phone on the charger.  Also I mention 10 hp gain for the exhaust it was 13hp with the exhaust and high flow cats.

With some great gains on the table already we’re going to wrap up this part of the series with some custom tuning at UpRev to hopefully pick up a little more power but do it with the engine in a better state of tune.

P.S. Following up on our Stillen brakes from last time I’ll happily report the grabby nature of the stock brakes is gone with the new slotted rotors and pads.  No weird noises, no nonsense and overly dirty wheels from an aggressive pad compound that only has place on a racecar.

P.S.2 As a bit of a peek into my life, a discussion that Mrs. LaBeau has with me every so often is why I have the obsessive need to modify every single car I own.  I struggle with this concept with new cars like Infiniti’s new Q(# has no meaning) twin turbo.  A car making 400hp makes me have the thought, how much more power do I really need?  Versus the little boy thought of MORE, MORE, MORE.  Surely as a car guy, my car will make more power, reason: because.  Without really thinking beyond the reason of because, I read an article by Maggie Stiefvater on Jalopnik today and understood another take on my obsession.  Thanks Maggie for the ammo on the next discussion on this topic in my house.

  1. in the videos were the cars non resonated or 18in resonator, im looking to buy one and am just concerned the 18inch resonator will be to quiet and the non resonator will have to much drone and lose the deep sound. if you could get back to me thatd be great thanks.

  2. We got the 18″ resonators on the 2.25″ exhaust. The resonators are shown on page 2 of the article. I love the exhaust. It’s quiet enough when I’m cruising around on surface streets or on the highway but there’s nothing quiet about it once your over 4k RPM’s. On cold startup my neighbors definitely hear the car. It’s the perfect compromise in my opinion compared to other louder exhausts that sound great when you’ve got your foot stuffed on the go fast pedal but make you hate the car when you’re just driving normally.
