At that point, the temperature began to get dangerously close to the “H” before I was able to complete the full lap, although it would have been a decent hot lap. I dialed it back to coasting speeds, blasted the heater and cruised around in fourth gear in hopes of allowing the car to drop in temperature but it wasn’t working. I gave up my efforts for that session and limped back into the pits to see what we could have done wrong to have caused the car to overheat.

The first idea that came to mind was to burp the cooling system, in case there might have been air bubbles that were caught in the system that would have pocketed – a common cause for overheating.
