The LM Programmer software is very straight forward to use and gives us wide range of adjustment.

Innovate Motorsport's LM Programmer software makes programming easy. There was no turning of knobs or holding down buttons to lock in limits or calibration. Additionally, all of our MTX series gauges are equipped with internal memory that does not require constant voltage to retain settings. We selected the stoichiometric ratio preset for gasoline and named our gauge “AFR” for easy recognition when we connected it to our Innovate LM2 for data acquisition.

Innovate's LM Programmer software allows us to easily set alarms for every channel. When programming our alarms, we purposely set our alarms on the high end of our limits so we wouldn't spook Chuck unless there was something going badly wrong. Remember, in land speed racing you have to maintain speed between two timing lights separated by a specific distance so if the driver has to lift, the run could be compromised and the opportunity to set a record ruined.

As we mentioned earlier, our stock speedometer only read up to 110mph. Since we were aiming to break 200mph, the stock speedometer was obviously not acceptable. Aside from this, any changes in mechanical gearing and tire diameter would throw off the speedometer reading. Lastly, running on a traction-limited surface with even more traction-limited, skinny Goodyear Front Runner tires, causes an excess of wheel spin and at high speeds would again result in inaccurate speed readings. We decided our only option was a GPS speedometer.  Besides, we couldn't find an analogue speedometer that went past 200 MPH for the life of us.  Go ahead, try… please.

The RB Racing Orca GPS speedometer uses a 5 Hz receiver which is nestled in the corner of Project 240LSR's dash

Global positioning system satellites orbit the earth approximately 55 ° above the equator. The system allows any point in the world to be seen by at least four satellites, giving the point a precise location. Almost all units on the market are accompanied by a cheap GPS receiver that only refreshes at 1Hz (1 time per second).

In the Silver State Classic Challenge's Z1Z competition, an accurate, fast speedometer is absolutely essential.

Chuck learned the shortcomings of a commercial type GPS while running in the Silver State Classic Challenge's Z1Z event.  In the Z1Z, the goal is to accelerate from a standing stop to 100 MPH and come to a complete stop within the shortest distance.  The acceleration in his turbocharged B12 Sentra outpaced the refresh rate of his GPS by so much, that the GPS readout skipped from 98 MPH to 104 MPH. Accelerating 4 MPH higher than the target before braking, cost Chuck several places in the event and the pride of being able to own several Corvettes, Porsches, and Vipers.
