With our lessons now learned, our solution was to use RB Racing's ORCA GPS Speedometer. Bob Behn at RB Racing in Gardena, California has over 27 years of experience with Bonneville racing, and his development of the ORCA Speedometer was specifically targeted at land speed racing. The RB Racing ORCA Speedometer includes a Garmin GPS receiver that operates at 5 Hz, refreshing five times per second as opposed to the 1 Hz of most traditional units. The refresh rate of RB Racing's GPS speedometer is so fast that you can see the speed readout fall during shifts. Try to get that level of sensitivity with a street navigation type GPS and you'll be left sorely disappointed.

The RB Racing ORCA speedometer features an anodized billet enclosure with a laser cut stainless steel gauge face. The internals of the unit are composed of a four layer circuit board with close tolerance military grade components. The removal of all moving parts and high grade components significantly reduces failure due to vibration. Sixteen LED's allow for an analog sweep along with a digital readout that will display up to 9,999mph! The ORCA also offers a recall button that can display the maximum speed of the run.
