Project [Rotary] FD RX-7: Part 5 – Cooling Oil and Generating Spark

,

A top down shot of the spark plug wires better shows the distance and routing from the coils to the spark plugs. It is definitely starting to get busy on the left side of the engine and there are still a few parts missing. The “1T” and “1L” marked on the plug wires will help identify which rotor and which plug (leading or trailing) each wire is meant for since each wire is slightly different in length and socket/boot orientation.

This is pretty much the only clear shot we could get of the oil thermostat, an oil cooler, the ignition coils, and spark plug wires all in the same view.

The FD is starting to come together now, but there are still a few extremely key components missing and it's not too hard to guess what they are. Stay tuned for the next few articles where we fabricate the RX-7's intercooler and radiator setup then tie up some engine odds and ends.
