You might also notice that the shifter handle is now canted back. The shifter handle simply uses a clamp-type design to attach to the post and actuate the shifter internals. By loosening the clamp, you can rotate the shifter handle forward or backward to the desired position.
The little black lever is the reverse lever. This has a pronged attachment to the shifting post. It can also be rotated, but it has a limited number of positions.
To engage reverse, you shift the transmission into neutral and then push the little lever down (towards the front). Then you pull back like you were going to first, and this puts the transmission in neutral. BLACK MAGIC.
Push forward to go back into neutral, pull the little lever up, then pull back, and you’re in first.
I have no idea how any of it works, but it works. And it’s rad. Back to the little enclosure plate.
