Project SEMA Scion Tuner Challenge FR-S: Brakes and Wheels
The front brakes are all bolted in.  Now all we have to do is put in the front brake pads and bleed the system.
We used the Willwood 570 brake fluid to flush and bleed the beake system.
The new Volk ZE40 wheel was selected for this project.  The ZE40 is a superlight forged construction wheel.  The wheel uses a multi stage forging die to turn a piece of aluminum billet into this beautiful and light wheel.  This sort of forging is superior as forging into net shape means that the grainflow is perfectly aligned with the geometry of the part.  This ensures that the wheel will be as strong and fatigue resistant as possible even with a complicated and lightweight design.  Forged Volk wheels bend instead of break when stressed beyond their limit.
The rim section is spin formed into its final shape.  This gives the metal’s grain flow around the wheels circumference and allows the rim section to still be strong while only being a super lightweight 3.5mm thick. The rim section is knurled in the bead area to prevent the tire from spinning on the rim. Our wheel measures 18×9.5″ with a 45mm offset.
The Volk lug nuts have a steel seat that is free spinning.  This makes for super accurate torquing. The proprietary sockets are an anti theft feature and wheel socket damage is never an issue with the internal hex drive.
