Project SEMA Scion Tuner Challenge FR-S: Brakes and Wheels
We used Bridgestone RE11 ultra high performance summer tires in 265/35-18,  We have run these tires on our Project S2K and found that they are only about 1.5 seconds a lap slower than your typical R Compound DOT tire at your typical track.  Not bad for a pure street tire.
The RE11 uses Bridgestone’s ‘3D Seamless Stealth Tread Pattern’ on the outboard shoulder.  This design allows for large outer tread blocks for maximum grip, higher tread stiffness for improved feel, all the while allowing for good water evacuation (this is a street tire after all!).  Furthermore, the stealth groove was designed to improve contact pressure distribution as the tire deforms under cornering loads.  This translates into more grip!
Our big tires are much wider than the wimpy stock 215’s and definitely put a lot more rubber on the road.  The wide rubber all fits into the stock wheelwell too with just a little bit of lip trimming.
Our rear Wilwood brakes look trick behind the spokes of the ZE40 wheels.
The front brakes look pretty slick as well.  Our car is starting to look the part.  We have handling and brakes.  Next it will be time for more stuff!.

Stay tuned in coming segments of our build, we will be turning our attention to power adders and finally working on cosmetics.
